The business is led by Colin Aimers, a chartered Civil and Environmental Engineer. Originally from the Scottish Borders, Colin started his working life at 18 at Scottish Borders Council as a trainee technician in the Bridges Department before heading to the University of Strathclyde as a mature student. Following graduation, Colin spent three years in the Birmingham and the Midlands working on geotechnical and commercial projects.
Colin returned north to work in Cumbria at global professional services company WYG, and at Atkins at Westlakes Science Park, principally in nuclear and energy related projects before making a move into the renewable energy sector with Wind Prospect. The engineering business under Colin’s direction grew and he managed a range of civil, structural and geotechnical projects across four continents from the bases established in Cockermouth, Durham and Edinburgh.
In 2011, Colin established Nevis Environmental, a business providing environmental support to construction projects and conducting ecology, hydrology and environmental monitoring to the energy sector.
Away from work, Colin enjoys mountains on foot or bike, and spending time with his young family in Cumbria. Colin is supported by a range of freelance engineers and technicians and has a wide range of associates who support more specialist activities such as architectural services.
