Netherby Hall Coach House Restoration
Over the last few months, Kingmoor Consulting have been supporting the new owners of Netherby Hall in some of their restoration work on the hall. It is one of the most stunning halls in Cumbria and it is good to see the care and respect going into its restoration. Working alongside the owners team and the Architects, Spence and Dower, we have taken measurements, calculated and ensured that the restoration of the property is done properly.
Our first project, working alongside Croft View Construction, was to undo years of neglect and poor workmanship on the coach house, with Adam and his team turning a bunch of rotten and woodworm infested timbers into a stunning new roof fit for 100 years of service. The original roof had been over-roofed and poor detailing, had allowed the ingress of moisture to the roof, rotting most of the soft wood timbers, felt and exposing lead work around the roof.
Adam and the team at Croft View Construction implemented a restoration scheme, replacing damaged and rotten timbers, and re-roofing the entire building. Thanks to Croft View Construction for some of the photos below.
We have also been working on something which is a little more sensitive needs a little more delicate touch than the rot at the coach house roof, as we have undertaken work on one of the finest orangeries I have seen.
