Stunning Tree House Holiday Let

Friends of Kingmoor Consulting, Julie and Tony Simpson are fourth generation dairy farmers on the outskirts of Carlisle.  Following the ups and downs of farming pushed them to convert a cottage within the farm to a holiday let in 2016, and they have now built on this success with the creation of unique treehouse amongst the 30 hectares of woodland on their farm.

Kingmoor Consulting alongside Aditus Architecture were initially commissioned to undertake planning applications for two treehouses within the plantation around their farm. Following successful applications, funding was obtained from The Rural Development Programme for England thro the LEADER funding, and work commenced on the site with local suppliers.   Kingmoor Consulting provided support to Julie and Tony during the construction phase, with Tony taking the lead on new infrastructure to access the site and drainage.

The site was adjacent to a small wetland frequented by Dragonfly’s, so grey waste from the treehouse was dealt with via soak-aways and filter beds, with a dry waste system being adopted for the toilet waste, thus minimising impacts on the local habitats.

The project has already had lettings, and we look forward to some lovely nights in the woods and supporting Julie and Tony with more projects in the future.
